Garage Ideas: Change The Overall Look & Get Plenty Of Garage Interior ideas

GARAGE PAINT COLOR

This idea is as simple as grabbing a paintbrush and a bold paint color for that garage wall. I love how a can of paint can transform a room. DIY Projects are truly the best. Especially, in a garage! Dear paint and roller brush-you are a life saver for boring ‘stuck in the past’ walls that need to be told your beautiful again. Make note, if your garage walls have an unfinished look and seeing studs, you may need to install drywall before painting.

AFTER

one of my favorite dark gray garage paint ideas

We had some paint left over from our living room DIY board and batten. My hubby wanted something dark and masculine for the garage paint so it worked out perfectly. The paint color is a dark warm gray color called Urbane Bronze in eggshell.

ADD TRIM

Trim can do wonders on a garage. The finishing touches trim offers is both decorative and practical. This can be done by either crown molding and/or baseboards for your garage. The case is won that much more if you’ve got messy paint lines that meet the ceiling or the floor. Crown molding is super fancy and looks amazing but also can be out of budget for some, since it’s more costly. In our situation, in order to cut some cost and make use of some 1×4 pieces of wood laying around the garage, we ended up using them as trim for the base of the ceiling. It was inexpensive, savvy, and we liked the way it looked. We first stuck a coat of paint on them, allowed time to dry, and attached them to the ceiling with a nail gun.

GARAGE DOOR FACELIFT

Painting your garage door as well as installing Hardware to your garage is by far the easiest way to add an upgraded look to your garage from the exterior. It’s all in the details. You can Snag the Hardware for under 50 bucks!

GARAGE HOUSE NUMBER

Another fun idea is to display your house number or address on your garage door. You can find magnetic numbers for your garage here. These are great so that no damage is done to your garage if you ever decide to remove them.

Adding your address above the garage can be a high class update as well. Shop these from GoHomeNumbers.

REPLACE OR ADD FIXTURES

Another simple but mighty thought is to replace your old light fixtures or even add in some that will be both functional and be pleasing to the eye on either the outside or inside of your garage. However, you may need a electrician for adding in or replacing existing ones depending on your expertise. You can find ours pictured below for under 40 bucks!

This wooden storage rack features 10 slots to help you store all kinds of stuff, from your weed eater down to your shovels.

Another idea to convert your garage space and get those yard tools out of sight (and out of mind) is a Track Wall. I’m fond of this idea because we used it in our own garage. You can buy the 20 peice kit with the tracks including the hooks for under $90.

If you go with the track wall on your garage wall, like us, in addition to the kit I mentioned above, Track Wall baskets are super practical to shove all the odds and ends into.

Tool Storage

If you have tools, chances are you have a toolbox that’s probably lacking organization. I know when my hubby’s in a hurry (or I borrow a tool, oops) they get thrown back in there to never really find it again. These tool box labels would definitely come in handy.

There are a couple different options to choose on the labels but the funny ones are my most favorite although they might not help me find the right tool right away. 🙂 If you have a Cricut or you’re any kind of crafty this would be another one to DIY.

Storage Tubs

The list wouldn’t be complete without adding storage tubs because well, they’re second to none at “hiding junk”. Especially Holiday decor and christmas lights which only get brought out once a year. Labeling your tubs will also help keep you organized and without searching for things, only to find your garage a mess again. Turn to your Cricut for DIY Labels for quick easy storage solutions.

If your storing it inside, and you can get this stuff out of your house and arranged neatly in your garage then it will allow for more living space versus storage. That leads me to my next category which is shelving to stack these babies on.

Shelving

Shelving can come in all shapes, sizes & price variations. You could go with store-bought shelves, Bracket shelves, or settle for some DIY built yourself. To Maximize garage space build or place shelving in unusable corners and utilize high areas for things that are not used as often.

This Overhead Garage Storage Rack is ideal for holding the storage tubs I mentioned in that ceiling spot, making for plenty of extra room you didn’t know you had.
