A Super Cute Gnome Ornament and fun diy repurposing a pringles lid! Make it In Minutes with only a couple supplies!

Christmas Gnomes, have become extremely popular in the holiday decor world! Not to mention, they are so cute with their little beards and little wooden noses. You may also have heard of them referred to as Nordic Christmas gnomes or Scandinavian Christmas Gnomes. I will tell you, after making one of these, you’ll want to make more for the tree since you can throw one together in the matter of minutes.

Today it started snowing here where I live! It gave me all the Christmas feels. The tree is up in the living room but it’s not yet decorated. I was feeling a bit…okay-way too crafty. I hollered in the other room and asked my sweet hubby if he would like to make a gnome ornament with me. He yelled back “GNOME I wouldn’t”. Hahahahaha! I just had to share that! His sense of humor keeps me laughing. He did help assist me by the way. You’ll see bits and pieces of him while I was capturing the steps.

So on that note, here’s all the steps (with pictures) so you can make your own! It was a very cheap DIY and chances are you probably already have a can of Pringles and scrap fabric pieces already at home. If not, then most likely find most of the supplies at your local dollar store, all besides the fur. I found that at my local craft store. Eat your Pringles then turn the lid into a Gnome Ornament! Heck, eat the Pringles while you make the Gnome ornament 🙂

Supplies To Make Christmas Gnomes Ornaments:

Here is what you will need to get started. The list is short, which is the best part of this diy.

Glue Gun

Long-Haired Fur

Pringles Lid

Wooden Bead

Fabric (you’ll only need a small peice, so scrap is fine)

How To Make A Gnome Beard

Step 1. Lay out your fur. Comb the fur backwards so that you can cut it without cutting the fur (you’ll be cutting at the bottom of the combed back fur). You can also cut the backing with a utility knife if you choose to do it that way instead.

Step 2. Cut your piece so that it’s big enough to go around your Pringles lid.

Step 3. Wrap your fur around your lid 3/4 of the way up and hot glue it to the front, let it dry.

Step 4. Then put a little dab of hot glue on the sides to keep them flat & next hot glue your strip of fur one side at a time on the back of the lid.

OKAY! You are ready for the hat! Told you it was easy!!!

How To Make A Gnome Hat

Step 6. Now for the hat, cut a rectangle out of your fabric bigger than the width of the Pringles lid.

Step 7. Here, you’ll want to make sure your fabric is covering a little bit of the beard in the front. Hot glue it down. You can flip it over and press it down flat from the back of the lid as shown while the glue is wet. Let it dry.

Step 8. Now, hold your hat’s end pieces and pre-fold them back to the way you like it so you get it right before gluing it down.

WA-LA! Now you can trim any overhang on the hat to give a sharper look.

Time for the finishing touches. The Gnome nose!

Step 9. Lift just enough of the hat to get glue under there to apply the nose.

Step 10. When that’s dry, flip it over. Cut a piece of string/ribbon and tie it in a knot. Hot glue it down on the backside of the gnome ornaments (ensure that the entire string is covered so that it’s secure enough for hanging).

That’s it! Your Done! Now hang them up on the tree!
