A quick step by step tutorial walking you through hiding wires for wall mounted TV.
A while back, I shared on the blog that we finished up this board and batten wall in our home. Hop over there for another easy tutorial. I always include pictures and try to make instructions easy to follow.
Hide TV Cables In Wall
Here is our flat screen on the stand prior to mounting. We finally agreed we were ready to swap our TV on it’s stand to a wall mount.
There are quite a few options when choosing how to go about hiding wires for wall Mounted TV. This is just one option that we found to be the best and the cheapest.
We were going for a clean look and we were adamant that we did not want any wire cords showing. We found this installation kit at Wal-Mart.
We paid around $23 for this in-wall cable management kit.
Once We had the TV Mount Screwed into the wall, we cut two square holes in the wall. One behind where the TV would be in which the cords would go in and the other at the bottom where the cords would come out (behind the TV stand that would hold all the equipment such as cable box, ps4 and so forth).
This is where that cabling kit I mentioned earlier came in handy. We took it out of the box & attached the peices it came with.
Here’s a behind the scenes photo of our living room. When cutting through the walls, you’ll need to keep a shopvac or a vacuum handy because the drywall does make a mess.
We purged our old TV stand & opted for one that stood a little taller. Here is my sweet husband building it for me. It was around midnight or so when I took these and the lighting was terrible.
and here she is all put together…. FYI-interchanging fall décor ahead since I’ve been slowly getting out my décor. I mean slooowly. Turtle mode.
My favorite thing about this barn door TV stand is that it’s a breeze to hide things but still makes it easy to get to when you do use them. My hubby’s PS4 for instance. Company coming? Shut the barn door!
While we were at it, I also picked up the matching sliding barn door cabinet. I hide all my books & movies behind there mainly and I keep the open side decorated.
My new living room view with no showing cords at all, thanks to hiding wires in the wall.
That’s all there is to it, guys!
