Materials Needed to Get Started with Our Christian Printable Activity:
Game controller printable template (grab it at the bottom of this post)
Paint (In whichever color you want your game controller)
Pencil
Christian Printable Activity Gamer Instructions:
Print:
Print out the printable template on white cardstock paper.
Paint:
Paint the back side of both two paper plates in black (or whichever paint color you prefer).
Cut:
Set the paper plates aside to dry and cut out all the video game controller components from the template.
Prep the Controller Base:
Take one of the paper plates and fold it in half like a taco. If you want more of a 3d effect, just bend the paper plate over without creasing it down tightly. Now set it aside.
Prep the Handle Grips:
Cut the second full paper plate in half with your scissors, so you’ll now have two pieces.
Now take only one of the paper plate halves and fold that one in half. Cut into half with your scissors.
You’ll be left with two small pieces that look like small pizzas.
Lay the pieces in front of you with the center points where they face one another.
Round the Bottom Handle Grips
Grab the handle shape provided with the template. Turn it and align with the bottom edges of the paper plate sides, tracing around it with a pencil.
You now will trim this rounded line with your scissors. Flip the template over to use it to do the same thing to the other piece.
This gives you the round shape of the handles on the controller.
Complete the Controller Base:
Lay your taco folded paper plate in front of you that you set aside earlier. Place the two handles inside of the taco folded paper plate.
Pull the paper plate down to see the best placement. You can even trace a line down the side of the inside piece, so you don’t lose the perfect spot.
Once you align them where they look best, staple and fasten them down to the inside portion of the paper plate.
You can bring the top of the paper plate down and put a staple in it at the very bottom of the front center. It’s optional, but you can touch the staple up with black paint to make it blend in better.
Arrange and Assemble the Buttons:
Lay out the buttons where you want them, starting from the top with the gray shoulder buttons. Spread the shoulder buttons out to make room for the “level up with Jesus” phrase. Place the cross-shaped button to the far left and the lit-up face buttons to the far right. The two thumbstick buttons featuring operation and target go toward the bottom. The two smaller buttons remain in the space in the middle. Using either glue or double-sided tape secure everything down.
