Make These DIY pumpkins look like faux concrete and totally high end!

I recently picked up some $1 foam pumpkins and thought they looked adorable, but I didn’t really care for the colors and the stems looked cheap and weren’t attached very well at all. I believe it was a target bulls eye purchase but if you can’t find them you can certainly use dollar tree foam pumpkins.

I wanted to fancy them up so they looked higher end. I recently spotted some concrete pumpkins on etsy and it dawned on me I could do this with my cheapo foam pumpkins!

Keep reading to see how I created the look of a faux concrete pumpkin.

Supplies You’ll Need For Concrete Pumpkins

Styrofoam pumpkins– try to look for faux pumpkins that have distinctive shape and lines, so it won’t look like a concrete blob.

Stone texture spray paint

Copper elbows (for stem)

Hot glue & glue gun (Here’s the one I use, it’s seriously amazing & has a detailed tip, Here’s the glue sticks as well)

How To Make DIY Pumpkins

These craft pumpkins are super simple to throw together. I simply sprayed it with a few coats of the stone spray paint. You’ll want to make sure it fully dries in between each coat. Allow plenty of time, this spray paint seems to take longer to dry than other spray paints we’ve worked with because it’s clumpy.

Now that it’s dry, you can hot glue on the copper elbows to resemble a stem. These were super cheap at my hardware store at less than $1 a piece.

My pumpkins worked out fantastic because I did not have to even pull out the stems, they fit right over top. If your stems are too big you can just remove them and add the copper elbow. There was one stem that I had to cut down but the easier way worked by sliding it over top and hot glue the faux stem and the copper piece together by just going inside. You could very well just glue from the bottom of the elbow fitting though. I was trying to avoid seeing any of the hot glue.

Fall Table Decor

I really love how these fake pumpkins turned out. I ended up placing them in my dough bowl with some greenery for an easy fall table centerpiece.

Spray paint can really change the look altogether. If you enjoyed these DIY pumpkins give it a share!
