I know I’ve been hitting on our DIY kitchen a lot lately, but I am back with a small little update. I know I say SMALL little update, but it makes all the difference and takes those builder grade cabinets to a whole new level! The crown molding on top of kitchen cabinets is completed, and guys I couldn’t be happier!
We’ve been working on kitchen diy projects like a shiplap backsplash, shiplap kitchen island, Shelf brackets diy for a cheap upgrade underneath the cabinets and we also did a kitchen feature wall. All these diy kitchen projects are transforming the look of our kitchen!
The Before’s To Our DIY Kitchen
Here some before pictures of our builder grade cabinets before we started our kitchen makeover on a budget.
The After’s: What Some Kitchen DIY Can DO!
This is after some kitchen crown molding!!!
Seemed like we were running in circles looking for cabinet molding to match the color of our cabinets. Not very many places offer the black crown molding for black kitchen cabinets. So besides hardly being able to find it, when we did, it cost an arm and a leg!
I’m so grateful for my father-in-law! He gave us some extra crown molding laying around his garage and passed it our way. Too bad I didn’t get pics of them. They were an oak-y color though and did not match at all. He showed us the same trick as the island corbels and painted them with this! It Saved us a ton of money and it’s a perfect match!!! I wanted to share this little trick because you could seriously save a ton of money this way too! I know you can find it in other cabinet colors as well. I am absolutely thrilled with how they turned out!! It looks so fancy.
As I mentioned earlier, we recently been working on our diy kitchen with a DIY Shiplap Backsplash and I have the full tutorial and steps to do it in case you missed that project. Then came these modern farmhouse cabinet shelf brackets. It was a simple idea and cheap way to do a kitchen facelift. The littlest details in a kitchen revamp are the always the best.
Lurking behind the scenes of that beautiful crown molding is our shiplap island makeover and a set of corbels that I mentioned in this post.
I will keep you guys updated on new projects and finished ones here soon! It’s been a super busy couple of months. I hope some of these diy kitchen projects I shared on our small budget gave you some modern farmhouse kitchen ideas for your very own diy kitchen remodel.
